Enjoining good and forbidding evil is a significant duty in Islam. The teachings of the Holy Qur'an and the practices of the Ahl-ul-Bayt also emphasize its importance. A society in which enjoining good and forbidding evil ceases to exist is bound to be destroyed, and this is precisely what is happening in our times. Today, in this modern technological era, our society has advanced to such an extent that people are planning to live on the moon. On the other hand, our society is drifting further away from religion and the teachings of the Qur'an.
If we were to compile all the golden principles of Islam in one place, the key to those principles would be "enjoining good and forbidding evil." As long as this principle remains alive, other Islamic principles will continue to flourish in society. However, if, God forbid, this principle is neglected, no matter how much worship and piety are practiced, it will be in vain and hold no value. In this scholarly article, we will examine the religious significance of enjoining good, its impact on society, and how it brings about revolutionary changes. We will also explore how, in the absence of this principle, societies are led to ruin and destruction.
