Islam is a religion rooted in nature and offers a complete code of life, teaching peace, security, and a refined way of living. It is a religion of mutual respect and high moral standards, placing great emphasis on the elevated status of parents in human life. Recognizing the significance of parents and fulfilling the rights of respect towards them strengthens the family system, bringing blessings and prosperity to one's life. The more these etiquettes are observed, the more civilized a society is deemed to be. Conversely, neglecting these manners leads to a lack of culture and distances one from the mercy of Allah.
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), known as the mercy to all the worlds, was sent by Allah as a guide for humanity, tasked with calling people to the oneness of Allah and faith. The Noble Qur'an, revealed to him by Allah, is the final book of guidance and revolution. Among its various themes, the Qur'an outlines an exemplary model for the "mutual behavior of parents and children." It commands kindness and service to parents, alongside the worship and oneness of Allah, indicating that after worshipping Allah, serving and caring for one's parents is a means of attaining a lofty status.
In this article, I have explored this topic, beginning with defining key concepts such as family, life, the Qur'an, and its style. The second section presents few examples of mutual behavior between parents and children as depicted in the Qur'an. Finally, the last section discusses the importance of children from the Qur'anic perspective.
