Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) came as an example for humanity on behalf of God Almighty. He was a high figure among the members of the society in respect of domestic life and character. And although the Prophet (pbuh) had several wives and all these marriages served higher goals and purposes such as the teaching and enactment of the rules, the abolition of Jahili rituals, and were done for political, collective and humanitarian purposes yet despite their [Prophet’s wives] different temperaments, the attitude and morals of the Prophet of Islam (pbuh) with his wives were very attractive and based on high values. Following the principles of justice and equality, imparting Islamic knowledge to them, taking care of their mental and spiritual conditions, expressing love and affection, being gentle and cautious, participating in household affairs, devoting a specific portion of time to family members, removing their suspicions, etc are some of the issues that are particularly noteworthy while studying the Prophet’s (pbuh) dealings with his wives.
