Morality has remained one of the main topics of discussion and an important part of the divine religions. The religion and sacred books teach us to demonstrate good character by adopting desirable personal characteristics. Religion is directly associated with moral code and as such it is impossible to imagine that any religion would not talk about it. Family is the basic component in any human society. Therefore, both divine and non-divine religions have given great importance to the effective role of family in the development of human society. Abrahamic religions, Christianity and Judaism, are in particular convinced about its paramount importance for continuance of family system.
Despite having differences with respect to terms and conditions needed to establish a family, these religions have put forth mutual suggestions regarding marriage and family formation. The author through this writing, by ascertaining the standpoint of the Quran and that of the Old and New Testaments about the family ethics, wants to know the importance of the formation of a family in the eyes of Abrahamic religions.
Keeping in mind the analytical and appreciatory approach adopted in this research paper it can be understood how much importance the Quran as well as the Old and New Testaments have attached to marriage and choosing a spouse. These two things, marriage and selecting a life partner, plays vital part in leading humans to perfection and creating an environment of compassion among the individuals of a family.
