This research paper presents a comparative analysis of the role of marriage in the protection of family life and the attainment of rights in the light of the Holy Qur’an and the Bible. According to Islamic teachings, marriage is defined as a sacred, natural, and social contract through which the preservation of human نسل (progeny), chastity, inner peace, and family stability are ensured. The study elaborates on the lexical, legal (Shariah), and jurisprudential definitions of marriage, along with its pillars, conditions, rulings, aims, and objectives in detail. In the light of the Qur’an and Sunnah, it is emphasized that marriage is not only a means of fulfilling human natural needs but also the foundation of a balanced, righteous, and peaceful society. The research highlights the rights and responsibilities of spouses under Islamic marital law, focusing on mutual respect, chastity, piety (taqwa), and observance of divine limits.
The paper also presents a comparative study of the concepts of marriage in Judaism and Christianity, analyzing the objectives of marriage, family structure, purity, procreation, religious obligations, and principles of marital relations. In this context, issues such as endogamy (marriage within the family), levirate marriage, monasticism, and celibacy are also discussed. The study concludes that although all Abrahamic religions recognize marriage as an essential aspect of human life, Islam presents the most comprehensive, balanced, and nature-aligned system of marriage. This system not only ensures the protection of individual, familial, and societal rights but also plays a fundamental role in establishing a stable social structure.
