Abstract
The concept of social justice implies that all members of society benefit from resources according to their capacities. The desire for its establishment has existed among leaders and intellectuals from the past to the present, but its practical implementation is only possible when its prerequisites, essentials, and obstacles are properly understood.
This paper highlights the importance of social justice from the perspective of Imam Ali (a.s.) and categorizes the essential elements for its implementation into three main sections:
1. Prerequisites (essential conditions)
2. Obstacles (hindrances)
3. Effects and Blessings (outcomes and benefits)
The purpose of the study is to clarify that the axis of Imam Ali’s (a.s.) government, as reflected in Nahj al-Balagha, was social justice, and that a strategic approach was adopted for its implementation.
The correct concept of justice is distinct from mere equality.
Its implementation requires control over personal desires, self-accountability, and consistent effort.
Both the public and the rulers play significant roles.
The public must offer counsel and demand the truth, while rulers must act upon justice as a fundamental duty.
Among the obstacles are selfishness, discord, monopolization, and avoidance of struggle (jihad).
When justice is enforced, it leads to peace, dominance over enemies, and the application of divine laws.
This study is based on the wisdom of Imam Ali (a.s.) and the insights drawn from Nahj al-Balagha, presenting both the positive and negative aspects encountered on the path to establishing justice.
