Islam brought with itself the message of unity, peace, progress and prosperity. After the demise of the holy Prophet (pbuh), the basic Islamic teachings were not followed in true spirit due to the changes that took place at the political as well as societal level, and as such the true implementation of the universal Islamic principle of unity also suffered a setback. Rather than following the universal Islamic principles, minor differences among the Islamic sects were given more importance day by day. Consequently, Muslim unity and harmony became a casualty due to which Muslims even failed to protect their dignity and honour. This article is a humble effort to bring forth the existing commonalities in the timings of Zuhrayn (Zuhr and Asr prayers) according to the main Islamic schools of law, hoping this effort can play an important role to bring unity, peace and tolerance among Muslims..
